The Makings Of A Church Planter (3)
After starting two churches from scratch, I’m often asked what kind of person makes for a successful church planter. I’ve two posts on critical characteristics so far, here’s a third: The ability to see and sell the future.
In most of life, including leading an existing church, there’s a lot about the present that gets people excited and keeps them motivated. When you’re starting a new church, you don’t have the luxury of today. All you have is tomorrow. So if you can’t see it, and you can’t sell it to others, you have no excitement and no motivation.
Can you see the future? Vividly? Can you sell it? Persuasively? If not, don’t quit your day job.
