Like Sundance?
I’ve had the opportunity to go to the Sundance Film Festival two years in a row. It intended to be a festival for independent film makers. There are movie makers who have budgets of $10 million to $200 million and make movies that remind you a lot of other movies you’ve seen. And there’s nothing wrong with that. I go to a lot of those movies. But Sundance is for movie makers who have budgets in the thousands, maybe a couple million tops, and who are trying to make unique films. Bringing these people together and giving them exposure is very cool.
That’s kind of what I hope for Vault, the conference we put on each year. There are guys out there starting and leading churches with big budgets and visions that are very similar to a lot of other successful churches you’ve seen. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Lots of people go to those churches. But Vault is for church planters and pastors who are trying to lead unique churches. Churches that may not become mega, they may never be listed in the “largest churches in America” list (though they may), but that instead are focused on reaching the people that other churches aren’t reaching. There are lots of conferences on how to do church like this successful church or that growing church, lots of conferences on how to become mega, but Vault is a conference focused on how to be a church that truly reaches truly lost people. And bringing these people together and giving them exposure is very cool.
If that’s you, if you’re a pastor who doesn’t want to do it the way everyone else is, but instead is obsessed with figuring out how to effectively join Jesus’ mission of seeking and saving the lost, you should totally come to Vault this October. You can register now.
