God, Pour Me Out For Others

Here’s an excerpt from my new book,
Renegade: Your Faith Isn’t Meant To Be Safe.

When you finally really have intimacy with God, you wouldn’t dream of being selfish with it. You need everyone to experience it. In fact, you realize that if your intimacy with God doesn’t connect you to other people and connect those other people to God, then really it’s just an isolated and narcissistic act. But when you have a true passion for God, it automatically translates into a compassion for people. You can’t stand the sight of injustice or human suffering or lost children without their heavenly Father. Those feelings aren’t natural for you; they were planted deep in your heart when God came pouring in. Those feelings aren’t natural for you, but they start to drive you. They lead you to see the world as God does, to dream big, impossible dreams, and to daily seek out ways you can become a force for good in this world God made and loves. And so you have a second song on your subliminal soundtrack: God, pour me out for others. God, pour me out for others. God, pour me out for others.
