You get up in the morning and, realizing that the rest of your day there will be forces that drag you away from God, you pray for him to flood your heart. You pray desperately because you desperately want God, and you realize that on your own you’re not capable of maintaining the level of passion for him you desire. It’s the kind of intimacy that leads you to a simple goal for your life: each day you want to love God more than you did the day before. You have a prayer that subliminally becomes the soundtrack for your life: God, pour yourself into me. God, pour yourself into me. God, pour yourself into me.
