Glory (Psalm 8 and 9)

Let’s say that the best way for your life to bring glory to God was for you to spend the rest of it in a wheelchair. Or homeless. Or it was for your child to die.

Or the best way for your church to bring glory to God was for it to be woefully pathetic, a laughingstock, even worse than that church (you know, that church).

What I learn from today’s reading (Psalms 8 and 9) is that everything pales in comparison to the glory of God. “Yeah, yeah, yeah, blah, blah, blah, we know that Vince.” But go back to those questions. Seriously. Would you be homeless? Have your child die? Lead a pathetic church? If it meant a little more glory for God. And, if not, do you really know that everything pales in comparison to the glory of God.
