Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner (Luke 14)

As to read today’s passage (Luke 14) I had the thought, “Man, Jesus is a perfect Savior, an amazing Lord, and a faithful friend, … but a lousy dinner guest.

I realize the Pharisee’s had Him there to trap Him, but still Jesus is relentless. He heals the guy (even though it’s the Sabbath) but then decides to pour it on, telling the guests that they’ve taken the wrong seats and the host that he’s invited the wrong guests. Can you imagine how incredibly uncomfortable that dinner party must have been?

Just another example, I think, that Jesus wasn’t here to give out hugs but to ignite a revolution.
