Today

I had a cool meeting today with the guy who is the Director of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for Las Vegas. He’s way involved with U.N.L.V. and is doing great ministry here. It was good to hear about and learn from his experiences.

One of the things that’s been helpful is that a lot of people seem to know people who live in Las Vegas. The guy I met with today is a friend of the husband of our Children’s Pastor back in Virginia Beach. I’m trying to take advantage of all the contacts by meeting with everyone I can to learn about doing life and ministry in Vegas. I’m also hoping these contacts connect me to more contacts.

Just FYI: The one thing I’m not doing is trying to recruit any of these friends of people I know to join our church. Why? So far everyone I’ve met with is a Christian. I’m praying that our Launch Team will be made up of lots of Christians from other places, and lots of non-Christians from Vegas. Why Christians from other places? Because if you’re willing to move across the country to start a church to reach people who are far from God in Vegas, you get it. Why not Christians from Vegas? Well, they already have a church family and, to be honest, I don’t know if they get it.
