25%

Thought I’d share a few of the things I’ve been learning about Las Vegas with you this week….

So Vegas has been like the fastest growing city in America over the last 30 years. In 1977 the population was 200,000. It went over 2 million in 2007. (Think about that for a minute.) I’ve heard lots of stats about how 10,000 people were moving here every month for years. Which should make you check that math. 10,000 a month is 120,000 a year, and over thirty years, that’s over three million. So why is the population 2 million?

Well, 25% of the people who move to Vegas move out of Vegas within two years. Wow. Apparently there have been lots of months where 10,000 moved in and 7,000 moved out.

Why do so many people leave so quickly? I’ll talk about that in some upcoming posts.
