A Question About You (Luke 15)

So today’s reading, Luke 15, is my favorite chapter in the Bible. It’s actually kind of annoying to me to preach without including the story of the lost sheep or the lost son. So I could go on and on, but instead I just want to ask one question, and it’s about you…

The Pharisees were all upset with Jesus, saying, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” And Jesus tells a trilogy of stories to show them how they had it completely backwards. In fact, it should have been Jesus who was all upset with the Pharisees, who claimed to represent God but who didn’t have His heart for His lost children. He should have been the one saying, “These men do not welcome sinners or eat with them.”

So here’s my question: Could Jesus say that of you? Could He say of you, “This man…” or “This woman … does not welcome sinners or eat with them.”
