Listening and Adaptability

Started reading “The Monkey and the Fish” (thanks Benji) and I love how it starts. Check out this section of the preface:

Our world is changing so rapidly, and more than ever, the church needs more than good intentions… Whether we’re trying to reach a new generation or a foreign culture, we tend to proclaim. We often don’t listen well. Too many times we resort to yesterday’s answers and methods… To effectively carry Jesus’ gospel to various places around the globe today – more important, to be Jesus’ gospel – listening is required. We need to be sensitive and lead with an eager learner’s resolve… If there’s one quality that matters most to the fate of the church in the twenty-first century, it’s adaptability.

So what does that mean for you and how you do church?
