Who God Chooses
Every since I began telling people that I’d be starting a new church on the Vegas Strip, they’ve been responding, “Oh! You’re perfect for that!” I’ve probably heard that between 100 and 200 times.
I don’t agree.
I’m not sure who God could get who’d be perfect for it, but it’s not me. And I think that’s exactly why He asked me. In our human thinking we want the perfect person for each ministry assignment, but God doesn’t think like us. And that’s why I love today’s reading (1 Corinthians 1). It says that God chooses the foolish, the weak, the lowly and the despised. Why? Because only God deserves glory, and God loves humility. And when an underqualified misfit is part of something amazing happening, there’s no room for pride and God gets the honor. And that is always the right result.
