Blah, Blah, Blah
I’ve got a confession: I LOVE words. Love them. I’ll read quotes over and over. The first time I heard on the radio, “See I’m all about them words. Over numbers, unencumbered numbered words. Hundreds of pages, pages, pages forwards. More words then I had ever heard and I feel so alive,” I felt like I had a psychic bond with Jason Mraz. I’ll listen to one sentence over and over from a good preacher or comedian, just to see how he put the words together. There’s a game I’ve played where you have to answer the question, “What’s the most sacred thing you know?” and my answer is, “The lyrics to Anna Begins.”
I think I’m a little carried away about words, but in today’s reading (Proverbs 15) it’s pretty obvious that God cares a lot about words as well. He instructs us:
- To use gentle, not harsh words
- To use wise, not foolish words
- To use honest, not deceitful words
- To use timely words
You know, for someone who loves them so much, I’m not nearly careful enough about the words that come out of my mouth. What about you?
