Immaturity =

Don’t know why, but I’ve been thinking a lot about immaturity. Now I’ve been called immature a lot in my life, but I’m not talking about that kind of immaturity (the kind that makes dumb jokes and plays practical jokes). I’m talking about the kind of immaturity we don’t want to be, that God wants us to grow out of.

And I’ve been thinking that maybe what immaturity looks like more than anything else is self-centeredness. There are about three million verses where we are taught to not be self-centered, but instead to put God first and others before ourselves. Like:

  • Matthew 19:30, But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.
  • Luke 14:27, And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

So I’ve got a couple thoughts on this I’m gonna share in the next few days, just to help me process them out loud. But for now, maybe ask God to reveal to you where you are on the self-centered scale…
