These Stupid Verses!

Today’s reading (Philippians 1) is, unfortunately, filled with things you probably never hear me saying. Like,

– “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion” – I tend to be more cynical and pessimistic about people.
– “God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.” I’m just not that touchy-feely.
– “But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.” I think people shouldn’t talk about Jesus unless their motives are right.
– “For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him” – I don’t look at suffering as a gift to be enjoyed.

So you know what all that means? I’m wrong. And I need to change my thinking and have my attitudes adjusted.
