These Stupid Verses!

Today’s reading (Philippians 1) is, unfortunately, filled with things you probably never hear me saying. Like,

“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion” – I tend to be more cynical and pessimistic about people.
“God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.” I’m just not that touchy-feely.
“But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.” I think people shouldn’t talk about Jesus unless their motives are right.
“For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him” – I don’t look at suffering as a gift to be enjoyed.

So you know what all that means? I’m wrong. And I need to change my thinking and have my attitudes adjusted.
