Man, today’s reading (Proverbs 18) just lets people who like to talk have it. It is a beat down for people who like to share their opinions, and who say foolish things, and who gossip, and who start talking before really listening, and more.
Maybe some of us should challenge ourselves this week. What if, for one week, we decide that we won’t speak until the other person has spoken, that we will make sure we talk less than the other person in every conversation (even if the other person is really quiet), that we will seek the wisdom of others and won’t feel like we need to share our opinions, even if we want to.
What do you think? Will you take that challenge? And if you did it for a week, do you think it’s possible you’d realize it’s a better way of living every week?
