Three Psalms for today’s reading (Psalm 81, 82, 83) but the one thing that really struck me are the three times in Psalm 81 where God bemoans the fact that His people won’t listen and begs them to do so…
8 “Hear, O my people, and I will warn you—
if you would but listen to me, O Israel!
if you would but listen to me, O Israel!
11 “But my people would not listen to me;
Israel would not submit to me.
13 “If my people would but listen to me,
if Israel would follow my ways,
God repeatedly insists that their lives would be so much better if they would just listen to Him – if they would be quiet and open their ears to His voice, and if they would be obedient to His commands. And reading this Psalm, I just had to wonder if this is what God would say to me…
