The Hardest Working Man in Church Planting
I met a church planter last week, started a church five years ago, apparently it’s doing well and is now at nearly 300 people. I don’t really know much about it, but here’s what I know…
This church has Sunday morning, Sunday evening, AND Wednesday night services. On Tuesday nights they visit people who filled out Connection Cards that weekend. They also, I think, do door-to-door evangelism. And on Saturdays they call every single person in their church to remind them about the next morning.
Now we may have all kinds of opinions on each of those methodologies, but let’s not go there. The point I want to make, and that challenges me is … Holy Crap! This guy prepares and preaches three sermons a week AND is visiting people in their homes AND is making all kinds of calls every Saturday. I know he’s not doing all the visiting and calling, and I also realize the potential for burnout and would wonder about whether he can also give enough time to his family.
But my point is … Holy Crap! This guy is working HARD. And it makes me wonder if maybe I need to put a little more time in…
