The Music

I read today’s chapter (Psalm 89) in two different translations, and something occurred to me from the way The Message translated a few of the lines, and it has to do with music…

The first verse says, “Your love, God, is my song, and I’ll sing it!” Later there’s talk of people who know and praise God and it says, “Delighted, they dance all day long; they know who you are, what you do—they can’t keep it quiet!” But later there’s talk of people who dismiss God and it says that they will have to “face the music.”

Interesting. It’s like: There’s music. That’s not the issue. The issue is: What will you do with it, and what will it do with you? Will it lead you to recognize the artist behind it and join in the song, dancing with it in celebration of His love? Or will you ignore the music and the one who made it, only later to recognize and regret how you missed out?
