What If…

Today’s chapter (Matthew 20) is a great one to cure some of what ails Christianity today.

Like what if every Christian in a leadership position, instead of thinking of themselves as important and in charge, instead took to heart and applied Jesus’ teaching that “… whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Matt 20:26-28).

And what if every Christian, instead of feeling like they’ve worked hard for God and are deserving, instead viewed themselves as the laborer who got hired at the last hour, as completely undeserving and just lucky to be here, and was full of gratitude that they were actually going to get rewarded at the end of this?

Man, that’s the kind of Christianity I want to be a part of! And I think most non-Christians would feel that way too.
