Rest

I’m not big on rest. Like maybe I could win a contest on being not big on rest. I sleep 5 1/2 hours, 6 at most, a night. I don’t believe in naps. Working a 16 hour a day wouldn’t bother me at all. Actually, I would enjoy it.

So this is weird for me to say but … I am really glad that the Bible describes what awaits us as rest. Throughout today’s reading (Hebrews 4) we’re told of this promise that we can enter the rest of God (if we hear His voice and don’t allow our hearts to be hardened).

I love to work, but I would choose God’s rest over it everyday of the week. And there is so much other than work that I really want to rest from – relational conflict, emotional struggles, the stress of life…

What about you? Doesn’t rest sound great?! So … Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience.
