God Wants

Interesting to me in today’s reading (1 Timothy 2) that the subject is “instructions on worship,” with teaching on prayer and appropriate dress and who can teach. But right in the middle of it we’re told, “This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” I don’t know, but it seems to me like God is saying, “Don’t separate all this worship stuff from helping people who are far from me get close to me. You can never forget that.”

As I’ve said before (and won’t stop saying) – When you have a child who is lost, getting your child back to you, getting your child home, surpasses everything in importance. Can you imagine if your kid was kidnapped, or ran away from home? Would it ever be far from your mind? Nope. And it’s never far from God’s mind, and it shouldn’t be from ours’ either.

By the way, I thought it interesting that the verse says, “God … wants…” and I wondered how many times in the Bible we are so blatantly told what God wants. Obviously, we can surmise lots of things that God wants, but how often are we just plainly told what God wants? I can only find a couple. And one of them is right here, for everyone to be saved and know the truth.
