How Can You Not?

I love today’s reading (Psalm 117 & 118). In fact, I kept reading Psalm 118 over and over. It’s just a celebration of the fact that God loves us, and what’s more worth celebrating than that? It’s the most stunning thing in the world, in human history, that the perfect, omni-everything, creator Lord God of the universe, loves … me. And you.

And when you think about that, how can you not say, shout, sing: “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!” “His love endures forever!” “In my anguish I cried to the LORD, and he answered by setting me free!” “The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” “The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation!” “The LORD’s right hand has done mighty things!” “You are my God, and I will give you thanks; you are my God, and I will exalt you.”

I realize cynical types (which normally includes me) will roll their eyes at all that, but when it goes beyond being theological concepts, and becomes the realities of your life, you can’t help but say them, shout them, and sing them.
