The Week In Brief(s) (10/25/09)

Every Sunday I’m sharing a recap on some of what happened that week. It will be quick (in brief) and I’ll write in my underwear (in briefs). Here ya go:

1. Last Sunday we had two Block Parties with over 160 people in attendance. The parties went great. It’s fun to create a little community in Vegas and help people meet their neighbors. It’s also been cool to see how interested many of the people are in our church.

2. We’re still working through all the due diligence on the leasing space we’re hoping to get. We’re also looking at another (a little bit smaller) space just down from that one (still in the same industrial park, still facing the highway) as an alternative, just in case.

3. We’re interviewing a great candidate to be our Children’s Ministry pastor.

4. Been working on our Benevolence policies. (Who will we give financial assistance to, how much, how often, etc.?)

5. Getting everything set up for us to be able to offer Financial Peace University starting in January. Hopefully this will not only be a way to help our people get a hold of their money and find financial freedom, but will also be an outreach tool for us.

6. Switched our Launch Team meetings to a hotel just off the Strip. This is cool because it gets us out of a house, and because it gets us closer to the Strip. It also creates more room for any growth we might experience between now and February – when we will switch to our own space..

7. My Management Team / Board of Directors came into town this weekend to see what we’re doing firsthand, and for meetings tonight and tomorrow.

TO PRAY ABOUT THIS WEEK:

1. Please pray for our campaign to raise money so that we have enough for all the one-time expenses of getting into the leasing space. We’re looking for 500 people who will give $100, and we still have a ways to go. If you’re willing to give, please go to www.verveventure.org.

2. Pray that the people we are serving and developing relationships with become interested in our church and want to help us get it started.

3. Please pray for the Food Co-op we’re going to start, that everything will go smoothly and it will be a great way to serve the community.

4. Pray for the hiring process with the person we’re looking at to be our Children’s Pastor.
