Wookin’ Pa Nub
We’re going to be looking at today’s reading (John 4) in our Launch Team meetings this week. I think the Samaritan woman represents people today so well. Searching. Searching for something to fill the emptiness inside, something bigger and better than what they’re experiencing. She searched for it in men, as do many today, along with a host of other things we look to. She also talks about the worship experience that is coming that might do the trick, and many religious people today assume that what they’re lacking is just that.
But it’s not. She was looking – looking for love, meaning, fulfillment – in all the wrong places. And so are we.
When the woman finally mentions the idea that there is a Messiah coming, Jesus is like, “Bingo! Ding, ding, ding, ding! We have what you’re looking for. And, by the way, I’m it. I’m Him.”
And He still is. He’s the living water that will satisfy our soul, and the end to all our searches.
