The Week In Brief(s) (11/29/09)
Every Sunday I’m sharing a recap on some of what happened that week. It will be quick (in brief) and I’ll write in my underwear (in briefs). Here ya go:
1. Thought I’d do a special Thanksgiving version of the week in brief(s) and share some of the things I’m thankful for in this church planting journey we’re on…
2. I’m thankful for my wife, who is awesome and an amazing support to me. Seriously, no way I do this without her.
3. I’m thankful for my kids, and for the fact that their going to have starting a church as part of their experience growing up.
4. I’m thankful for Robb Overholt and the great partner he’s been in this mission.
5. I’m thankful for our Launch Team, many of whom uprooted their lives and moved to Vegas because of their commitment to what we’re doing.
6. I’m thankful for our Prayer Team – the hundreds of people who have subscribed to The Vegas Project and receive and pray for our prayer requests everyday.
7. I’m thankful for the organizations and churches who are supporting us financially. Don’t know how we’d do this without them.
8. I’m thankful for all the individuals who are supporting us, many who are sending money every month, and for those who have given $100 and become Verve Venture Capitalists.
9. I’m thankful for my Management Team, for Dave Nelson my church planting coach, and for Dean Trune my spiritual mentor, all of whom have been a great source of wisdom and guidance.
10. I’m thankful for Bart Rendell, who has been overseeing the whole process of us getting a space to lease.
11. I’m thankful for the Mission Teams we’ve had here, and the others that are coming in January through April. And we need some more!
12. I’m thankful that God has given us the opportunity to bring His grace to the great city of Las Vegas, which so badly needs the second chance God offers.
13. And for Jesus, and that He’s entrusted me with His gospel.
TO PRAY ABOUT THIS WEEK:
1. There is a big meeting on Tuesday with the City Planning Commission where they will determine if we can have the zoning variance that will allow us to have church in the warehouse space we hope to lease.
2. Please pray that our Launch Team grows – in numbers, in love for God and people, and in our commitment to do whatever it takes.
3. We have three more families moving here in the next month or two. They have to sell and buy homes, find jobs, etc., so please pray for their transitions.
