Rev 22 For Vegas

At the beginning of 2009 I was moving to Las Vegas to learn and then start a church, and decided to read through the New Testament and share a thought each day, often as to how that day’s chapter might apply to Vegas and our church.

Today we hit the last chapter of the New Testament (Revelation 22) and it describes exactly what the people of Las Vegas need. The last verse of the chapter talks about the grace of Jesus being available. Grace is getting what you don’t deserve, it’s a needed second chance. The Bible tells us that where sin increases, grace abounds all the more. And what the people of Sin City need is grace.

This chapter also contains an invitation for people who are thirsty, to come and drink the water of life. Las Vegas is a city of excess. A city where everything is available, all the time, and everything glimmers and promises, but ultimately nothing satisfies and everything leaves you wanting more. Jesus said that those who believe in Him will never be hungry or thirst for more again. And what the people of this desert need is the living water of life.
