The Week In Brief(s) (12/6/09)

Every Sunday I’m sharing a recap on some of what happened that week. It will be quick (in brief) and I’ll write in my underwear (in briefs). Here ya go:

1. Last week about 18 of us from our Launch Team got together for Thanksgiving dinner. Fun times.

2. My family then went and had dessert down the street from our house with four neighbors.

3. Spoke at Summit Church’s four services in Orlando. I am very impressed with them and with their Lead Pastor, Isaac Hunter. Also grateful for their support of what we’re doing here in Vegas.

4. Got to spend two extra days in Florida with the family, we had an awesome time – thank you Summit!

5. I got a ton of work done on the trip. 10 hours in airplanes, and I don’t sleep nearly as much as the rest of my family, so I get a couple hours while they’re sleeping.

6. We’ve been figuring out what we want to measure, have finally decided on those metrics, and so this week I wrote the annual survey we’re going to do. I think we’re going to do it on week 3, then at the 6 month mark, then at one year, then annually from there.

7. Worked on a sermon series on the airplane.s

8. Read Donald Miller’s new book, “A Million Miles in a Thousand Years.” It’s great. If you’re a fan of Miller, or of story, I would definitely recommend it.

9. Was interviewed about our church plant for the January/February issue of Outreach Magazine.

10. Big things are brewing around my second book, Guerrilla Lovers, which comes out on February 1. It’s going to be more than a book and it’s stuff that will benefit you.

11. We got our Finances/Stewardship system done.

12. Big news this week that we got approval from the City Planning Commission to have church in the warehouse we’re wanting to lease!

13. The other big news is that Shepherd of the Hills (a church in Los Angeles) has decided to match any donations made to our Verve Venture Capitalists campaign in December!! You can make a donation at www.verveventure.org.

TO PRAY ABOUT THIS WEEK:

1. We need to submit our design to the building commission, get approval, and then get moving on the build out. Please pray that the whole process moves very smoothly and quickly.

2. Please pray that people give towards the Verve Venture Capitalists campaign. It’s AWESOME that Shepherd of the Hills is so generous they’ll match donations, but it only helps if there are donations!
