The Week In Brief(s) (2/7/10)
Every Sunday I’m sharing a recap on some of what happened that week. It will be quick (in brief) and I’ll write in my underwear (in briefs). Here ya go:
1. Our Launch Team meeting last week focused on “What are the marks of greatness?” as we looked at Jesus’ calling to be humble servants, to be like children, and to be like Him.
2. We had our first ever Verve Creative Meeting, as we planned out our first series. Fun!
3. We are designing and ordering our Connection Cards, Brochures, etc. Because of our designer, Irene Davis, our stuff looks hot!!
4. Construction continues on our building. Walls have been framed, and it makes the whole thing way more real. It’s like, “Oh, this is really happening!”
5. We’re in the process of choosing our equipment and such – chairs, sound board, lighting, you name it. The process is very difficult, because we can’t quite afford everything we need, so we’re having to make some really difficult choices.
6. Did a blog tour for Guerrilla Lovers this week. Honored and appreciative of the great people who allowed me to share their blogs for a day, and who want to be a part of making the guerrilla lover movement a reality.
7. Lots of big meetings this week: Like we met with the lady who leads maybe the most notable community service organization in Las Vegas, and the lady who leads maybe the most notable ministry to strippers in Las Vegas.
8. Met with a great guy who owns a major flooring company here, and he’s going to donate some of the flooring we need for the building. Boo-yeah!
9. This week we gave out volunteer positions to our people. We tried to give everyone spots that would match their personalities and giftedness, though it’s difficult to do that perfectly when you’re first starting and have a limited amount of people and a lot of needs. I think we had 57 Launch Team Members who received volunteer roles. I didn’t give a position to some of the newest people… yet. Many people are taking on 2 or 3 or 4 roles, but as new people come in we’ll try to get those numbers down.
10. Met with several of our Coaches. Every team will have a Coach. Every Coach will have a Ministry Leader. Eventually every Coach will have an apprentice, but we’re not quite there yet.
11. Recorded two new Guerrilla Lover podcasts. One is being edited and should be up very soon at the Guerrilla Lovers web site.
12. Excited about the new Verve Facebook page and Verve Twitter account, and that we now have an online giving option on our website.
TO PRAY ABOUT THIS WEEK:
1. Please keep praying that everything moves super fast with construction and permits and getting our certificate of occupancy and all that jive. We are PRESSED for time in order to be open for our opening. We need your prayers.
2. Please pray that our money keeps flowing because we still have a lot to purchase to outfit and equip our building. There are some needed things that we’re not sure we’re going to be able to afford at all. So please pray that God blesses us with what we need to be effective in doing what He’s called us to do.
3. We have two Mission Teams coming in this week. Please pray that they have great times, great attitudes, and make a great impact
