Hope In Tragedy
So many thoughts in light of what happened yesterday in Connecticut. One of them is that we live in a sick, broken, twisted, sad world, and I am so thankful that I believe in a world beyond this world. If I thought this life was all there is, I think it would depress me beyond my ability to bare.
But Jesus said that we will have trouble in this world, but we can take heart because He overcame the world. And He did. He stepped out of the grave and defeated death. We can still prove today that it actually happened. Jesus showed that there is life after this life, and if we follow Him in this life, we’ll follow Him in defeating death and moving on to live in a perfect place called Heaven.
That doesn’t mean we give up on this world or live with a defeatest attitude. As Christ-followers we should be leading the way in seeking to make this world a better place, primarily by exposing people to the most powerful healing and transformational force in the universe – the unconditional love of God.
But … in the meantime we take heart, because though in this world we will have trouble, Jesus overcame this world.
