And We’re … Online

Tonight we launch online services at Verve. Online services have become pretty trendy in churches. Typically the church is showing online, live, what is happening at that time in their church building. So the online church service happens at the same time as the live service.

I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that, but it’s not at all what we’re doing.

One of the unique things about Las Vegas is that it’s a 24/7 town. More people on the Strip work on weekends than weekdays. 4 pm to midnight and 6 pm to 2 am are common work shifts. Many people actually live at night and sleep during the day.

This makes it difficult for people to go to church on weekends. It’s why we have had a 7:05 Monday night service since we started. But there are people who that won’t reach either, and we want to connect people to God who are not so easy to connect to God.

When we moved to Vegas we interviewed over 300 people, and one question we asked many was, “If you were to go to church, what day and time would be best for you?” We received some crazy answers, and most of them multiple times. “1:00 in the morning, so I could go right after work.” (6 am on Saturdays, so I could go to church at the end of my day, before I go to sleep.” “8 pm on Fridays, so I could go to church before I got out to party.” (Yes, we heard that several times.)

So tonight we launch online services, and will be airing them at the following times each week:

  • Tuesdays: 1:05 am
  • Wednesdays: 12:05 am
  • Thursdays: 11:05 pm
  • Fridays: 8:05 pm
  • Saturdays: 6:05 am

These will be live recordings of our weekend services. They will each have an “Online Host” who can answer questions viewers may have, and hopefully provide a little pastoring as needed.

We will also have an archive of past weeks’ services that people can view at any time. (So if you’re out of state, and interested in watching our services but none of those times are good for you, you can watch past weeks at your convenience.)
