Passages #8
I’m doing a series on some of my favorite bible passages. Here’s one:
“For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved.” 1 Corinthians 10:33
I’m assuming that Paul wasn’t full of crap, and I’m assuming that you assume the same. And if we assume that, wow, what a statement this is! It’s the kind of verse you could fly right by when you’re reading 1 Corinthians 10, but that would be a huge mistake.
Think about it: Paul actually wrote, “I am not seeking my own good but the good of many.” Focus on your life for a moment, why do you spend your money the way you do? For your good, or the good of many? And why do you spend your time the way you do? For your good, or the good of many? What’s the ultimate motivation for what you do and how you live? Is it “that they may be saved”?
This verse is a serious kick in the butt, isn’t it?
