Chasing Cool 8: One Vision

Just read a great book called, Chasing Cool. Thought I’d share a few ideas from it and process them out loud …

Bonnie Fuller, editor of Us Weekly says, “You have to have one central vision. You need to get your team to buy into the vision – and then contribute and collaborate. I don’t believe in creation by committee. I think it’s impossible. You can’t get anything done with committees.”

I recently heard an interview with Erwin McManus where he said that his church is not about his vision. Instead, it’s all about empowering the vision of others. He (basically) claimed that the vision of their church was created by committee.

What do you think? Is Bonnie Fuller right, or Erwin, or is there some truth in each? And how does the Vision Giver play into the discussion? How have you seen this play out in your church, or in another church?
