Chasing Cool 6: Who You Are
Just read a great book called, Chasing Cool. Thought I’d share a few ideas from it and process them out loud …
Bob Pittman, co-founder of MTV, “You have to always listen to know what’s working and what’s not. Research is critical to that process. But you have to start from a place of really knowing who you are and what you stand for… If that’s not the case, all the outside help in the world won’t solve the problem.” (45)
This is similar to the post about engineering your point of difference, but the focus here is on knowing who you are and what you stand for. Do you know that about yourself? I think I’m pretty over-rated by a lot of people who think I have a lot of things going for me that I honestly don’t. But I would say that two of my strengths are: I know who I am and what I stand for.
So … who are you? And what do you stand for? What if you had to answer each of those questions with three simple statements? What would you say? And how does it impact what you do for God?
